Melissa McCarter was born on January 16, 1968, to Felton and Alice Faye McCarter. Ms. McCarter graduated public school in Jasper, Texas.

She later united with EverGreen Baptist Church. Ms. McCarter loved her daughter, Kelly, and often talked about her with her friends.

She enjoyed talking on the telephone, watching television, and listening to all type of music.

Ms. McCarter was preceded in death by her parents, Felton McCarter and Alice Faye McCarter, and uncle, Herbert Ray Gray.

Ms. McCarter leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Michelanie McCarter of Dallas, Texas; brother, Felton McCarter of Dallas, Texas; uncles, Zebby (Annette) Gray of Lufkin, Texas and Willie Joe Gray of Houston, Texas; niece, Fetia McCarter of Dallas, Texas; nephew, Felyk McCarter of Louisiana; special cousins, Ruth (Wiliford) Gray of Houston, Texas, Candice Gray of Jasper, Texas, Evelyn Hennington, and Roshunda Thomas of Port Lavaca; great-nieces and nephews; and a wealth of other relatives and friends.
