Mildred Lee
Adams
Oct 19, 1953 — Jun 14, 2022
Jasper
Mildred Lee Adams, a loving mother and grandmother, expired on June 14, 2022, in Houston, Texas. A resident of Jasper, Texas, since 2012, Ms. Adams was born on October 19, 1953, to the late Jessie Lee Adams and Alice (Cade) Adams.
Mildred accepted Christ at an early age at Rose Bloom Baptist Church. She later also attended St. Luke's Baptist Church and served at Faith Chapel C.O.G.I.C. until her health began to fail. Mildred loved God until her very last breath. She believed every word of her Bible; she was definitely a woman of Faith (Hebrews 11:1). She taught her grandchildren about God. Mildred was a prayer warrior, tither, intercessor, and visionary.
Mildred graduated from Jasper High School. She attended Houston Community College and the University of Houston, studying business/office management. In 1972, she met and married Lester Ray Kelly, and to that union was born Eurika LaShun Kelly.
Mildred was very successful in her career working at Compaq Computers until the closing of the company, which led her to Life Tech, Inc., and her most favorite career CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate). Mildred would travel all over Texas speaking on behalf of children and families. She had the utmost respect for judges, attorneys, CPS/CPI staff, and other advocates. She developed authentic bonds with some of them and had a genuine love and respect for everyone it takes to protect the most vulnerable children in Texas. She was a grandmother and mother figure to so many children who had no one. She was well-loved and highly respected.
Mildred was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Lee Adams; mother, Alice Cade Adams; sister, Jane Etta Douglas; and brother, Claude Joe Adams.
Mildred is survived by: three siblings, Jessie Lee Adams, Jr. (Earnestine), Barbara Thomas, and Eddy Douglas; three daughters, Eurika Kelly, LaTonya Joubert, and Ced'Taisha Adams; three sons, Michael Johnson, Keithric Thomas, and Byron Woods; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
