Forrest Hill
Nathaniel Harriel was born on May 7, 1941 to Pauline Sylvester and Ezekiel Harriel in Newton, Texas. Both preceded him in death.
Nathaniel attended Kerr High School Independent School District. He soon after started his carpentry business where he built homes for Newton and the surrounding areas. In addition, he also drove cement trucks for many years.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at King Chapel C.M.E. Church, where he served faithfully. Later in life, he joined Rigmaiden Chapel C.S.H. Church under the leadership of Rev. Harry Lewis whom he loved. He worked diligently in the church and became Head Deacon.
Nathaniel met and married Mertha Glenn-Harriel and to this union three beautiful, loving daughters were born; Cecilia Gosey (James Gosey, who preceded her in death) of Fort Worth, TX, Sheldon "Ann" Gosey (Bobby) of Austin, TX, and Kinnetha Watkins (Heyward) of Austin, TX. He was also blessed with a Goddaughter, Deatrice "Pooh" Davis (Nicholas) Calhoun of Rockwall, TX.
He had a great love for his family and The City of Newton, TX, who he loved so dearly.
He was known as "Soda Biscuit". He loved fishing, dominoes, and wathching the Golden State Warriors basketball team. He said that he was the best cook of Newton, TX (lol).
Nathaniel exited this life on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 2:00 am at Kindred Oaks Rehab Center peacefully in Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Ezekiel, and his sister, Myriel Sylvester.
