Ocello "Ocie" Scott was born on February 18, 1936, in Toledo Bend, Texas, to the late Hamp Scott and Ethel Langston Scott.
Ocie spent her early childhood years in the Toledo Bend community where she also attended school. She began her working career at a young age in Burkeville, Texas, at Tess Cafe.
In the '60s, Ocie moved to Houston, Texas, and worked at Piccadilly, Cameron Service, and the Road Runner Hotel. Ocie found none of
her previous jobs made her feel as loved and appreciated as working for the Sachnowitz and Baldwin families did.
She was the life of the party. You could always get her to take a picture with you or just strike a solo pose. She enjoyed spending
time with family and friends, playing bingo, going to concerts, and travelling.
Ocie knew the family history. She was the Scott's family historian. If her family needed to know any information past or present, we
knew who to ask, and she would say, with a smile, "How much time do you have? Because we are going to be here for a while."
Ocie was preceded in death by her parents, Hamp Scott and Ethel Langston Scott; six siblings, Annie Scott, Nettie Jane Palmer, Mark
and Daniel Lee Scott, Margaret Lucille Hickman, and Angelene Scott Brown; special cousins, Frank Cade and Alma Moore; and
dear friend, Trina Williams.
She leaves to cherish her everlasting memories: her sons, Edward "Buster" Scott of Houston, TX, and Charles Scott of Liberty, TX;
brother, Marshall Scott of Toledo Bend, TX; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special cousins, Leslie Mae Green,
Freddie Scott, and Felton Stanley, all of Houston, TX; two bonus daughters, Toni Baldwin and Veronica Johnson; bonus granddaughter, Kayla Baldwin, of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
