Odis Samuel Jr. was born on November 9, 1936 to the union of Odis Sr. and Tenaha Samuel in Bon Wier, Texas. He was the eldest of tow children. Odis was a lifelong resident of Newton County and as a young man, he met and married the love of his life, Alberta Kelley. To this union, they were blessed with six children. Odis was widely known by many for his outgoing spirit and zest for life but more importantly he was viewed as a devoted husband, father and friend.

Our beloved Odis departed his earthly home on Monday, September 30, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Odis Samuel Sr., mother, Tenaha Samuel and brother, Edward Robertson.

Odis leaves to celebrate his homegoing, a loving and devoted wife, Alberta Samuel of Bon Wier, TX and six children, Mertie Lee Farr of California; Odis Ray Samuel (Denise) of Jasper, TX; Bobby C. Samuel (Glenda) of Bon Wier, TX; Linda Hunter (Billy) of Lufkin, TX; Johnny Samuel (Tywana) of Crosby, TX and Bruce S. Samuel (Rhonda) of Lufkin, TX. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Annie Louise Samuel, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
