Obituary

Onnie Boatner was born on May 6, 1922, in Newton County, Texas, to the late Stanford Boatner and Etta Sells Boatner. She was the third of twelve children. Onnie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in her youth and was baptized. She was a faithful member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Beaumont until her health began to fail.

She attended Jamestown High School as the valedictorian of her class.

Onnie married John D. Adams, Jr., and to this union, six children were born, Harry, Gloria, Etta Joyce, Barbara, Larry, Roy and special niece Mary Ann.

She was a cook by profession and loved every moment of it. She was employed as a cook at the Jefferson County Airport for many years. Cooking was even her hobby. She enjoyed baking the most. She would often bake biscuits, rolls, pies, teacakes, and cakes. She also enjoyed
gardening.

Onnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John D. Adams, Jr.; daughter, Gloria Dean Adams; and siblings, L. M. Leroy Boatner, Stanford Jr. Boatner, Walterine Kyles, Helen Ward, Theria Cade, Ruby Washington, Robert Boatner, Dorothy Fower, and Maxine Kyles.

She leaves to cherish her everlasting memories: her brother, Cecil Boatner; children, Harry Adams (Beverly Ann), Etta Joyce Staves, Barbara Davis (Sheport), Larry Adams, and Roy Adams (Bertha); grandchildren, Gloria Addison, Kevin Davis, Terrence Sublett, Timothy Adams, Shannan Staves, Tiffany Staves, Shala Adams, Lorelle Adams, Christy Adams, Anissa Adams, Alyssa Adams, and Brianna Adams; and a host of great and
great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
