Obituary

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

John 11:25-26

Mrs. Patsy Adams Sylvester is the daughter of the late Dorothy Adams Bryant and the stepdaughter of the late Joe Bryant. Patsy was born in Jamestown (Newton County), Texas, on October 15, 1945. Mrs. Sylvester attended elementary school in Arizona and Jamestown, middle school in Orange, Texas, and Wiergate, Texas, and high school in Wiergate, Texas. Patsy graduated in 1963 and attended Prairie View A&M University for one year.

In 1964, Patsy gave birth to her first son, Vincent Bernard Adams. She was very proud of such a fine son. On November 18, 1967, Patsy married Mr. Arthur Sylvester and they made Jasper, Texas, their home. On November 3, 1970, Arthur and Patsy had a second son, Arthur Tyrone Sylvester. Patsy loved her sons and they made her so proud. She realized that nobody but God kept them.

When Patsy was very young, she became a member of the Iron Wheel Baptist Church in Jamestown, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor Bluitt. After moving to Jasper, Texas, she united with the Peaceful Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor J.B. Wilson and continued serving under the leadership of Pastor Daniel Stafford. Sister Sylvester was a member of the Senior Choir for 40 years and served until her health failed. She faithfully believed that there was a message in every song. She also served as a deaconess.
