Obituary

I am home in Heaven, dear loved ones; oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, safely home in Heaven at last. There is work still waiting for you, so you must not idly stand; do it now, while life remains. You shall rest in Jesus' land. When that work is all completed, he will gently call you Home; oh, the rapture of that meeting, oh, the joy to see you come!

Phyllis Denis Bellard was born on September 19, 1967 in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was born to the union of Bernadine Jack and the late Mervin Bellard. Phyllis attended Ville Platte High School in Ville Platte, LA, where she graduated in 1987. Phyllis was taught to love the Lord at an early age. She was a long time member of The Church at Ville Platte under Rev. Perry Dangerfield, where she was a member of the choir and loved to sing and worship the Lord. She was also a member of Christ Gospel in St. Laundry, where she was baptized by Pastor Walter Jones. This is where she met her husband, Joseph Wayne Goff. Together, they shared two sons, Christian and Jordan; and three daughters, Brittany, Brandi, and Jazzlyn. Both having grown up in Louisiana, Phyllis and Joe later decided it was time for a change and relocated to Jasper, Texas, where they met a lifelong family friend, Pastor Ray C. Lewis, and members of Faith Temple COGIC for many years.

Having a kind spirit and a heart of gold and compassion, Phyllis knew in her heart she wanted to provide love and care for others. She attended Angelina College, where she took nursing classes and went on to later graduate, all while working as a caregiver at Jasper Convalescent for many years until it was later closed. She then worked at, formerly known as, Timberlake Nursing home of Jasper, Texas, where she was also a caregiver of many years and nursed and cared for so many.

She devoted her life to God. She loved to worship and sing in the comfort of her home and spend time with her family. There was nothing Sister Phyllis loved more than the Lord, her husband, her kids, and grandchildren. Sister Phyllis will always be remembered for her love for the Lord and her family, her sweet spirit, kind heart, and genuine love.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her father, Mervin Anthony Bellard, sisters, Melissa Renee Bellard and Cynthia Evette Bellard.

She leaves to mourn: her husband of 33 years, Joseph Wayne Goff; two sons, Christian A. Goff and Jordan J. Anderson; daughters, Brittany N. Goff, Brandi J. Goff, and Jazzlyn K. Anderson; granddaughters, Sydnee C. Weatherspoon and Skylar J. Twine; grandson, Hayden A. Goff; sisters-in-law, Peggy (Herbert) Broussard, Audrey Edwards, and Alice Prince; brothers-in- law, Theodore Goff, Donald Ray Lamb, Clarence (Tina) Guillory, and Joseph Guillory; very special cousin, Yolanda Anderson; special friends, Deshanna Collins, LaRonnia Gray, Tina Byron O'Neil, and Sharon Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
