Priscilla Spikes was born on October 17, 1937, to the late Simon Spikes and Della Chaney Spikes. She spent her young life in the Wiergate Community. After attending Wiergate High School, she met and married James "Monroe" Fowler, and to this union, six children were born. One son, Kennedy, died shortly after birth.

She was an amazing mother to her surviving five children as well as a loving and doting wife to her husband. She was a long-term employee of the Burkeville Independent School District, where she worked for over 30 years, finally retiring in 2002 as the Cafteria Manager.

Priscilla was an excellent cook and caretaker. Through food, she demonstrated her nurturing spirit by always feeding and comforting those she loved and those who were in need. Her gentle spirit and warm heart were recognized by all who met her. She had the gift of making everyone feel immediately at home and truly welcomed.

Priscilla truly enjoyed taking care of everyone. She also received joy from growing beautiful flowers and plants. She had a green thumb, so everything thrived under her watchful eye and special attention. Many mornings after her daily cup of coffee, you could find her in the yard tending her plants in the morning dew.

Priscilla found God at an early age and was a lifelong member of New Greater Macedonia Baptist Church. Over her seventy plus years of membership, she served her church in many different capacities, including usher, choir member, mission board member, President of the Usher Board, Church Treasurer, and finally, Mother of the Church.

Priscilla loved God, her family, friends, and community unconditionally without reservation. She was a guiding inspiration to all who knew her.

Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers: Norvell Bowie, Arvell Spikes, and Graten Spikes.

She leaves to cherish her memories, sons, James M. Fowler, Jr.(Charlotte) of San Antonio, Texas, and Joseph and Greggory Fowler both of Wiergate, Texas; daughters, Shelia Fowler Adams of Jasper, Texas, and Patrina L. Fowler of Colleyville, Texas. Grandchildren; Latorya Fowler Mrsic (Drago) Fort Worth, Texas, Jessica Fowler Okosun (Patrick) of Manvel, Texas, Precina Fowler of San Antonio, Texas, James M. Fowler III of McKinney, Texas, Joseph Fowler, Jr., Wiergate, Texas, Channing Birdlong, Beaumont, Texas, Ashanti and Aziya Fowler, Lufkin, Texas.
Devin Adams Houston, Texas, Daron and Dedric Adams Jasper Texas. Victoria Wilson of Colleyville, Texas; bonus grandchildren, Cedric Priestly, Seguin, Texas, Charla Priestly Lufkin, Texas; seven great-grandchildren; and four bonus great-grandchildren. Also, a loving sister in law, Emma L. McCarter of Wiergate, Texas.
