Rebecca Lynn
Scott
Jul 20, 1962 — Feb 12, 2021
Houston
Rebecca (Becky) Lynn Scott was born on July 20, 1962, in Jasper, TX, to Willie Gene Hadnot and Marilyn Scott-Hadnot. She departed her earthly life on February 12, 2021. She attended the Jasper Independent School District and graduated in May of 1980. Upon graduation she attended Lamar University and majored in Child Care. Upon completion she moved to Houston, TX and worked 10 years in the child care field. She was a nurturer by nature and was employed the last 25 years in the health care industry; as a private duty nurse.
Becky was the pillar of her family. She was a fashionista and rarely did you ever catch Becky without her makeup and hair and nails done. She was the eldest sister in the family and had made a promise to our daddy that she would take care of her younger sisters and brother. She kept her vow and was able to do so until her last dying breath. Even upon her sick bed she kept in touch with and on top of everyone.
She met and married Michael Grace in June of 1993. They remained amicable friends after going their separate ways. She later married Henry Lynn but this marriage was also dissolved. Her motto was: It is better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all. Becky's true loves of her life was her nieces, nephews and God children; often being a second mother to them and spoiling them with her generous and rich ways.
Becky was a God fearing and passionate believer in the Lord. She was reared from her youth in Moore Chapel CME Church and baptized into Christ. She united her Christian discipleship with Lilly Gove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Terry K. Anderson and was a faithful and ardent member until her health failed.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents Willie Hadnot and Marilyn Hadnot-Jones. She was survived by and leaves to cherish her memories: brothers, Keith Scott of Austin, TX, and Kent Hadnot of Houston, TX; her sisters: Lenora Hadnot of Houston, Donna (Armond) Cauley of Jasper, TX, and Yulonda Hadnot of Frisco, TX. Her memories are also cherished by her nieces and nephews: Kenya (Terrance) Crawford of the Woodlands, Daunte' (Marissa) Cauley of Bryan/College Station, Kent Hadnot II, Kia (Roshane) Simpson, Kiara (Devante) Turner of Missouri City, Alexandra Scott of Austin, Arden Scott of Brandon, Mississippi, and Mahalath Cauley of Jasper. And her godchildren Quez Garrett, Drayk Manning, Alexis Georgetown and Paisley Turner. Also, along with her best friends and cousins; Wilma Silas and Sharon Thomas, and other close friends Sherry Cade, Ora Nell Lindley-Brown, and Bridget Sam. As well as aunts, uncles and a host of cousins, and friends.
Becky's beautiful smile and joyous laugh will truly be missed by all her family and friends. Her legacy can be honored and kept alive by following the path she has set before us, by being faithful and loving the Lord, loving your family, and loving your friends.
