Obituary

The sun set for Mr. Ricki Arnez Freeman, 63, of Morgan City, Louisiana, Friday, September 10, 2021, at Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson, Louisiana.

Ricki Arnez Freeman was born January 22, 1958, in Pineland, Texas, to the late Mr. Tommie Lee Freeman, of Camden, Texas, and Viola L. Porter Freeman, of Longview, Texas. He was the sixth of eight children born to this union. He attended and was a member of Pinegrove Baptist Church in Pineland, Texas.

Ricki attended school at West Sabine High School in Pineland, Texas. He was a savvy basketball player, and if you asked him, he was one of the best! He graduated with the class of 1977. On October 5, 1979, he married Martha Ann Horn, and two girls were conceived from this union. He worked various jobs as a millwright in his younger years. Ricki lived in Orange, Texas, for many years before relocating to Louisiana, where he was employed as an onshore contract worker for Star Enterprises. Ricki really loved his grandchildren, and they really love and will miss him.

Ricki was preceded in death by his father, Tommie L. Freeman, his mother, Viola L. Freeman, his wife, Martha A. Freeman, his sister, LaDonna G. Martin, brother, Byron A. Freeman, his grandson, Sherman E. Drayton, Jr., and granddaughter, Kendrea Freeman.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his two daughters, Kenya Freeman of Pineland, Texas, and Knawdria Freeman of Baytown, Texas; two stepsons, Patrick Horn of Arizona, and Keithan Horn of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Kyra Drayton of Houston, Texas, and Kendal Lewis and Kensley Thomas of Pineland, Texas; siblings, Denise Redd (Eugene) of Orange, Texas, Genoa Freeman (Bobby Gayle) of Longview, Texas, Carolyn Freeman of Pineland, Texas, Don Freeman of Fort Worth, Texas, and Tommie L. Freeman of Orange, Texas; special friend, Miss Dorris Burris; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
