Obituary

A man of faith, a Christian believer, accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior was baptized at an early age at Pinegrove Baptist Church in Pineland, Texas. He had an undeniable love for God. He renewed his faith in 2022 at The Church of Bethel's Family in Houston, Texas.

Ricky Nelson Garrett went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Born on June 15, 1962, in San Augustine, Texas, to Mary A. Garrett and J C Barnes, both of whom proceed him in death. He graduated from West Sabine High School in 1980. Over the years, he served in the National Guard, worked at Temple Inland, and he was co-owner of Jasper Ice Company and owner and operator of his own trucking company.

He enjoyed cooking, barbecuing, listening to old school R&B music, sitting outside, and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed life even when his illness took his strength.

Ricky leaves to cherish his legacy and memory: wife, Audrey Garrett; son, Ricky (Alicia) Garrett; daughter, Santanna Garrett; five sisters, Pheleashie and Wanda Garrett, Annette Taylor, Tookie-Valeska Barnes, and Dundrea Giles; three brothers, JC and Kevon Barnes, and Donnis Frandois; two nieces, Whitney (LeDedric) Berry and Morgan Limbrick; two nephews, Logan and Lennox Berry; two stepmothers, Florine and Mary Barnes; and a host of family and friends who loved him unconditionally.

He was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, grandpa, cousin, and friend.
