Growing up in the country as the third of ten children, Robert Lee Brooks developed a strong work ethic and a love for the simple joys of life. He graduated from Wiergate High School in 1965 and enlisted in the US Army in 1967, proudly serving during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he settled in La Porte, Texas, where he lived and worked as a construction worker, truck driver, and barber.
Robert Lee Brooks had a passion for gardening, fishing, football, and playing the bass guitar. He was an avid lover of music, especially the blues and gospel. In 2010, he retired from his hardworking career, leaving a legacy of dedication and resilience. He was known for his loud and lively personality, a little bit of craziness, and at times, a mean and ornery disposition.
