Obituary

Ruthie Mae Adams was born on September 25, 1925, in Vivian, Louisiana, to the late Leod McKinney and Louise Doucette. Her mother passed away when Ruthie was two, and she was raised by her maternal grandmother, Carrie Green, and other relatives.

She later moved to the Huff Creek Community, where she attended school and church. There she met and married Arlee Twine, and from that union, four of her children were born: Harris Lee Twine, Johnnie Mac Twine, Robert C. Twine, and Ernest Ray Twine.

Later on in life, she met and married James Reed, and from this union three more sons were born: James Kenneth Williams, Homer James Reed, and Gary Wayne Reed.

She remarried once again to Leon Adams, whose name she wore until passing; no children came from that union.

Ruthie worked hard her whole life, at times holding down three jobs at once. She worked at Bonita Cleaners for some years. From there she went to Louisiana Pacific, where she retired. After that, she worked for the Jasper ISD, from which she also retired.

She attended church regularly and was a member of Peaceful Rest Baptist Church, Jasper, Texas, where she sang in the choir, attended Sunday School and various other church activities. She later moved to Arlington, Texas, and united with The Saint John Church Unleashed in Grand Prairie, Texas.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Harris Lee, Robert C. Twine, and Homer James Reed.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Johnnie Mac Twine (Angela), Ernest Ray Twine, and James Kenneth Williams (Judy), Gary Reed (Lillian); daughter-in-law, Wanda Twine (Harris); a host of grandkids, great-grandkids, great-great-grandkids, other relatives, and friends; special friends, Dorothy Smith, Tillie Noble, and Harvey Harthorne (Annie Margaret) who was always there for odd jobs around her house; godson, Reverend Manuel Land (Effie); and special cousin, Jewell Cade.
