Mrs. Ruthie Mae Stanley Houston was born on January 8, 1930 in Toledo Bend, Texas to Mr. Gilbert Stanley and Mrs. Bessie Mae Watley Stanley.

Later in life, she met and married Mr. Lasalle Houston and made Jasper, Texas her permanent home.

Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; daughter, Silvia Houston; and brother, Bennie Ray Stanley.

Mrs. Ruthie Mae enjoyed cooking and spent many years working as a cook in a restaurant. She was a loving person with a blessed soul; she will truly be missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her children; Felton Clinton Stanley, James Elton Stanley, Robert James Stanley, Carolyn Stanley, Joynell Johnson, Jimmy Wayne Houston (Donna), Lasalle Houston, and Charles Paul Houston; one brother, Nazereth Stanley; and one sister, Eula Mae Spikes. She also leaves 27 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
