Shirley Hadnot Brumley was born on August 28, 1945, in Jasper, Texas, to the late Sylvester and Rozena Hadnot. She attended school in Jasper and graduated from Rowe High.

Later in life, she met and married Curtis Earnest Brumley, Sr. They were blessed to share 41 years of marriage together. Shirley loved the Lord and was a member of the Lighthouse Church in Jasper.

"Big Mama," as she was affectionately known by her family, loved living and enjoying life. She loved fishing, camping, helping people, and cooking for everyone. She was a person who truly loved and cared for everyone, no matter their color.

Shirley went home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Rozena Hadnot; husband, Curtis Brumley, Jr.; and sister, Margie Larkin.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her children, Terry Hadnot, Julia Brumley, Jessica Sanchez (Carlos), Curtis Brumley, Jr., Jennifer Davenport (Paul), all of Lufkin, TX, Robert Brumley, Devion Brumley, Darius Brumley (Simone Jones), all of Jasper, TX. She also leaves her siblings, Annie Hadnot (Roy) of Houston, TX, Barbra Jones, Mable Mays, Rosie Spikes, and Sylvester Hadnot, all of Jasper, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
