Another sanctified soldier in the army of the Lord has gone to claim her crown of Glory when Sister Shirley took flight on Monday, March 2, 2026. She was born in Sabine County to the late Codella Grigsby and D.C. Cheatham. She confessed Christ at an early age at Pinegrove Baptist Church, which later became Goodwill Baptist Church of Pineland, Texas. She later joined Church of the Living God in Brookeland, Texas, in which her husband worshipped. She was always faithful in the church choir.

Shirley was a graduate of Bryant High School in Pineland, Texas. She worked at Temple Inland, in Pineland, for many years until she retired.

Shirley married the love of her life, Lee Edward Hunt. To this union two children were born, Lee Antonio and Lee Edward Hunt, Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Codella Grigsby and D.C. Cheatham; siblings, Mary Faye Grigsby and Curtis Grigsby; and her grandmother, Mommy Mary Grigsby.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Lee Edward Hunt; two children, Lee Antonio (Toni) of Lake Charles, LA, and Lee Edward Hunt, Jr. of Pineland; five grandchildren, Aaron Miles Hunt (Katlyn), Taylor Hunt of Lake Charles, LA, T.J. Crane of Hemphill, TX, Gavin Curl of Dallas, TX, Aleigh of Pineland, TX; siblings, Joyce Kebler (Bobby) of Pineland, TX, Doris Blake (Roy) of Hemphill, TX, Travis Gregory (Lisa) of Beaumont, TX, Don Grigsby of Hemphill, TX; two step-children, Jackie Mackey (Robert) of Dallas, TX, and Orlando Martin of Houston, TX; step-brothers, Avery Charles Thomas of Houston, TX; a great neighbor, Gaynell Holman of Pineland, TX, and a host of relatives and friends.
