Obituary

Mother Shirley Ann McBride Steele was born July 21, 1948 to Walter McBride and Lillian White McBride.

From an early age, Mother Steele had a relationship with the Lord that only got stronger with time.  She was the eighth child of eleven born to Walter and Lillian McBride. As a child, Mother Steele attended Mount Hope Baptist Church in Shankleville, Texas; later in her adult life, she attended Forward Memorial COGIC which later became New Beginning. Then, she attended New Jerusalem COGIC under the tutelage of Pastor Robert Cheatham.

On February 4, 1964, she married Jimmy Lee Seastrunk.  To this union, four daughters were born, one of which preceded her in death, Pamela Louise. She later married Norman Steele on May 21, 1988, who preceded her in death on February 4, 2002.

Mother Steele had an infectious laugh that could light up a room. She had a deep devotion and passion for reading
and studying the Word of God. Mother Steele's next great love was FISHING!! Anyone who knew Mother Steele, knew she was an avid fisherwoman who shared this passion with her loving Sister Mother Martha Ervin; the stories these two could tell about their fishing excursions!

Preceding her in death also are her father, mother, five brothers and two sisters.

Mother Steele leaves to mourn her daughters, Cathy Noreen Seastrunk Lathan (Willie), Shirley Elizabeth Seastrunk, and Gwendolyn Guillory (Manuel).  She leaves to remember her legacy and to mourn her a sister, Mother Martha McBride Ervin (Ray Charles); two brothers, Reverend Robert Earl McBride ( Earlene) and Gene Howard McBride(Denise); her loving grandchildren(11), great-grandchildren(16), and a host of nephews and nieces, cousins and loving friends; and very special friends, Shirley Shelton and Rose Burnham.

Mother Shirley McBride Steele will be greatly missed by us all! We will forever cherish in our remembrance
her legacy of love, laughter, her Faith, and commitment.
