Sophia Jena Dean Maxie was born January 12, 1960, to Mary Lee Morris and James William Dean in Newton County Texas. She was the oldest daughter in the family of fourteen children.  She was a big sister to Robert Dean, Curtis Dean, Kennedy Dean, Jeremiah Dean, Demetruis Dean, Deborah Dean, Julie William, Terina Threadgill, Cassandra Harris, Maybelina Dean, Albert Dean, Paul Dean and Cicso Dean.

She was raised in the Liberty community and attended newton High School. She loved basketball as a young girl. March 20, 1976, she started she family and worked as a Home Health Nurse.

She was married to Johnnie Maxie.

She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Maxie; her oldest son, Emanuel Dean(Tamekia) of Houston, Texas; daughter, Tamela Glenn (Tony Glenn) of Lufkin, Texas; son, Clifford Dean (Marie) of Kansas; son, Marcus Dean of Houston, Texas; son, Johnnie Maxie of Tyler, Texas and daughter, Mary Maxie of Houston, Texas; seven grandkids; Yashmin Dean of Houston, Texas; Calia Dean, Miliah Dean of Houston, Texas; Jewls Dean of Kansa; Taylor Bissell of Newton, Texas; Terrell Glenn and Trayvon Glenn of Lufkin, Texas.

She has spent her life raising a good family because she always believed a family that pray together stay together until we meet again. We love you mother! You will be greatly missed by all your siblings, grand kids, family and friends. Rest in Peace Mother; WE love you.
