Obituary

VANCE ADAMS ORR (MOMMA V.), was born on July 23, 1938, to John Wesley and Katie D. Smith Adams in Jamestown, Newton County, Texas. She was the seventh of eleven children. At about seven years old the family relocated to Jasper, Texas, to what later became known as the Pinewoods Community. This is where Momma V. spent her childhood and would later build a home to raise her own children. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age.

Momma V. was a self-taught entrepreneur, who was a jack of all trades. If she couldn't do it, she would figure it out before it was all said and done. Momma V. wasn't just momma to her children, but to others throughout the community. If you needed someone to talk to, give you a ride, take you to the doctor or hospital, feed you, cook or care for you, or even chastise you, Momma V. was the one to call. She loved her family and she loved to serve. She had such a big heart and believed she was meant to be here to wait on others, and enjoyed being called on and was quick to hit the road. After surviving six gunshots in 1968, in the back of her head, she strived that much harder to carry out God's will. Momma V. had a smile and laugh that was out of this world. She wasn't a stranger and will never be forgotten.
