Obituary

Willie Anna Belton Williams was born on November 16, 1940, in Grayson, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late Reverend Leroy and Sister Johnnie Mae Belton. She graduated from Bryant High School, Home of the Fighting Tigers in 1956 as Valedictorian.

She met and married the love of her life, Chester Williams, in 1958. He preceded her in death in 1998. They were married for 39 years; to this union, five children were born. She was blessed with a bonus son, Mack Cooper, upon meeting and marrying Chester. Mack was a wonderful son and big brother to his five siblings. Mack also preceded her in death.

She worked 35 plus years for Temple Inland before retiring. She attained an Associate degree in Business while working full-time as a secretary for the plant manager at Temple. After retiring, she became a substitute teacher at West Sabine ISD until 2019; she absolutely loved it. In the last year, she was the babysitter for her new great-grandson, Ace. Her favorite phrase to him was, "Granny says I can have it!"

She was a faithful member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church for many years, where she served as Choir President. Pine Grove and Evergreen Baptist Church merged to become present day Goodwill Baptist Church. She served as choir president, church secretary, and was on the hospitality staff.

Punkin never met a stranger and always had a smile on her face. She always had kind words and positive affirmations for everyone she met. She was always encouraging to young people. No matter the situation, she would always take the time to reassure you that everything would be alright. She has been a faithful Tiger parent, grandparent, and fan. She personified, "Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!"

She leaves to love and cherish her memories: her children, Chester, Jr., (Pam), Jeff, Carla Randle (Kenneth), Valerie Polk (Gene), and Demond (Angela); eight sisters, Henrianna Harper, Opal Simmons, Diane Holmes (Reverend Darrell Holmes), Elnora Combs, Thelma Brown, Ella Holden, Bobbie Richardson, and Easter Neely; four brothers, Raymond Brown, David Brown, James Brown, and Melvin Brown; three aunts, Doris Neal, Irene Drone, and Maline Gray; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; God daughter, Tiffany Mason; best friend, Gaynell Holman; a second bonus son, Reverend Kenneth L. Cotton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, along with the many kids who called her Granny.
