Obituary

Our beloved King Willie H. McCray was born to Cora Bronson Horn on December 14, 1939. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Tom Ella Horn; his brother, Charles Kerwood; his stepbrother, Freddie Horn; his mother, Cora Horn; his beloved wife of sixty years, Mary Armstrong McCray; and his grandson Jacoby Ramon McFarland.

He joined Armstrong Memorial C.M.E. Church at a young age and served in various capacities, eventually becoming the Superintendent of the Sunday School, a position he held for many years. His oldest daughter served as his Sunday School secretary. Throughout his life, he was dedicated to service, with his greatest love being for God and his church. He enriched the lives of his wife, children, and the community, sharing both love and financial support with anyone in need.

As children, we always felt that our dad loved working, as he consistently held two or three jobs. He worked for Visador Door Company and JISD for many years before retiring from both companies.

King Willie leaves behind a legacy of love and service. He is survived by his children: Lisa D. Adams (Richard), Amy Bankhead (Gentry), Marcia Bronson Hank, William K. McCray (Vanessa), and his baby boy, Jeremy Ramon McCray. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A special thanks goes to Aunt Irene Thompson, his "other mother" and birthday buddy. We love and appreciate you, Aunt Irene. Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.
